The David Dalton Viola Research Competition Endowment

Named in honor of the long-time editor of the Journal of the American Viola Society and a leading figure in viola research, the David Dalton Viola Research Competition was created in 1999 to encourage and support viola research by students. Since its inception, the competition has awarded thousands of dollars in prizes to young scholars while offering the opportunity—in many instances their first opportunity—for publication in a scholarly journal.

Thanks to a generous lead gift from AVS Past-President Tom Tatton and his wife Polly, the American Viola Society is establishing the David Dalton Viola Research Endowment to fully fund the competition in perpetuity. We invite you to consider a tax-deductible donation to help build the endowment, ensuring that the competition can continue to benefit young viola scholars of tomorrow.

To donate, please contact Madeleine Crouch at info@avsnationaloffice.org or (972)233-9107 ext. 204 for more information.
